NYSSPA provides leadership, advocacy, education and information to help you serve your patients, your community, and your profession.
Fellow membership is for persons who are classified as Fellow Members of the American Academy of PAs (AAPA). Fellow Membership in this organization shall consist of only AAPA Fellow Members who are eligible for license by the New York State Education Department and who live and/or work in NYS. Fellow Members have full voting rights in the society and may hold any elected office. Fellow members typically are:
Affiliate Membership is for persons who are eligible for Fellow membership in the AAPA, but who choose not to become such, who are PAs licensed by the New York State Education Department, and who work and/or live in NYS. Affiliate Members have full voting rights in NYSSPA matters and may hold District Director seats on the Board of Directors. They may not become officers of NYSSPA the Society, vote on resolutions or other matters pertaining to the AAPA, or serve as or vote for delegates to the AAPA House of Delegates. Associate members are PAs from other states, non-PAs who are supportive of the purposes of NYSSPA, and other persons at the discretion of the Board of Directors. Associate members shall have the privilege of the floor and may serve on committees. They may not vote or hold office within this Society, vote on resolutions or other matters pertaining to the AAPA, or serve as or vote for delegates to the AAPA House of Delegates.
PA Student members are enrolled in a PA program. PA Student members may not vote on matters pertaining to the AAPA or the AAPA House of Delegates (HOD). One-time membership fee during PA program enrollment - members are for up to three years and expires June 30th.
Pre-PA Student members are not enrolled in a PA program but are interested in pursuing a career in the physician assistant profession. Pre-PA Student members may not vote on matters pertaining to the AAPA or the AAPA House of Delegates (HOD). One-time membership fee during undergraduate enrollment - expires June 30th in the year you graduate.
