NYSSPA has been representing the Physician Assistant profession for 30 years. The success of NYSSPA is reflected in the growth, development and increasing recognition of the profession over this period of time. There is still much to be done:

• In the area of public education, the citizens of New York need to see more information about the profession.
• Information needs to be gathered and presented to the health care policy makers as well as physicians demonstrating the abilities of Physician Assistants to enhance health care delivery.
• Enhancement of the regulations and laws that govern medical practice, by changing the 24 hour medical co-signature requirement and modifying existing laws that regulate the physician / physician assistant ratio.

These initiatives take time, money and personnel. The best way to support the Society and the PA profession in New York is to join as a member. NYSSPA also has a membership program specific for physicians interested in joining call our Physician Partnership program.
